Scholarships for IT students
The Foundation offers five national scholarship programs for students pursuing information technology degrees, plus regional awards in Wisconsin and Texas. National applications are accepted between January 1 and May 31 each year, for the following academic year.
Eligibility at a glance
These requirements apply to all five national scholarships:
- Declared computer science, CIS, MIS, or IT major with an overall and major GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)
- Satisfactory completion of at least one full semester of college (12 semester hours or equivalent)
- Enrolled full time (12 semester hours or equivalent) as an undergraduate at an accredited institution in the United States
- U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident

Honors a 40-year AITP leader; exceptional service to fellow IT students and professionals plays a major role in selection.

Betty Stevens-Frecknall Scholarship
Honors a computing pioneer who rose from cardpunch operator to systems leader, and a lifelong advocate of education.

Kevin Jetton Service Scholarship
Recognizes outstanding service to fellow IT professionals through leadership and volunteer activity, including AITP student chapter leadership.

William R. Reaugh Scholarship
Honors the 1995 national AITP president and model-curriculum pioneer.

Dave Sanders Memorial Scholarship
Honors the Columbine High School computer lab and business instructor killed on April 20, 1999.
Regional awards
Regional award
Sherry Anklam Memorial Award
For IT students at colleges, universities, or technical colleges in Wisconsin or Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Selection is managed by the Northeastern Wisconsin Chapter of AITP.
Regional award
James A. Herriott Memorial Fund
Supports IT students in the Central and South Texas region through scholarships and conference attendance grants.
A note on past programs
The Harold M. Pool Recognition Award, established by the Mile High (Denver) Chapter of AITP in honor of the chapter’s first president, was awarded from 2007 through 2017. The award has concluded, and its remaining funds were donated to the 2023 United States Information Technology Collegiate Conference (USITCC).
